Centre National de Recherche Scientifique

Technological Facilities at CNRS, FR

The ‘Centre National de Recherche Scientifique’ (CNRS) is a French multidisciplinary public research organization under the supervision of the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. It is composed of ten institutes that coordinate at the national level the scientific research in several fields. IN2P3 is one of these institutes that carries out national missions of animation and coordination in the fields of nuclear physics, particle physics and astroparticles, technological developments and associated applications, particularly in the field of health and energy. This research aims to explore the physics of particles and atomic nuclei, fundamental interactions and connections between the infinitely small and the infinitely large. IN2P3 is the legal guardianship of twenty research units in France, among them the ‘Laboratoire de l’Accélérateur Linéaire’ (LAL) and the ‘Institut de Physique Nucléaire d’Orsay’ (IPNO): two joint research units of the CNRS/IN2P3 and Paris-Sud/Paris Saclay University based at Orsay scientific campus. The pursued accelerator researches in these two units are both experimental and theoretical, with fundamental as well as applied goals. The strong involvement of LAL and IPNO in several international projects at the state of the art in particle accelerator science place them in the forefront on the field with a worldwide recognition of their expertise. The following Technological Infrastructures (TI) are present in the two laboratories:
